WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A controversial proposal to rename part of a Washington County highway after Charlie Kirk is no longer under consideration.

In a statement Friday, March 27, the County Board of Supervisors said the actual cost of the project is "substantially higher than first known."

The original resolution proposed spending $50,000 to add "Charlie Kirk Way" as the road name overlay on a portion of County Truck Highway K.

The full board was expected to vote on the proposal in April.
