MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Officials are investigating a crash between two vehicles and a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office deputy's squad car.

According to deputies, around 7 p.m. Saturday, May 23, a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office deputy was driving in the area of N. 35th and W. North Ave. when he spotted a vehicle reported stolen out of Illinois.

The vehicle was unoccupied and the deputy requested backup before approaching. As backup arrived, three individuals entered the vehicle and MSCO squads cars boxed the vehicle in and took all three into custody.

The two passengers of the stolen car were released a short time later, and the driver, who had drug paraphernalia on him, was kept in custody.

As deputies drove the driver of the stolen car to the Milwaukee Criminal Justice Facility downtown, deputies saw him unresponsive in the backseat of the squad car. The deputies then rerouted and headed towards a nearby hospital for medical help.

While entering the intersection of 12th and Vliet with lights and siren on, the squad car struck another vehicle traveling east on Vliet. The struck vehicle rolled over, and the squad car careened into another car due to the collision.

All occupants involved in the crash reported minor injuries and the man in custody was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

All parties were treated and examined by medical personnel and the driver of the stolen car is in custody at an area hospital.

The entire sequence of events remains under investigation.
