‘My hope is the World Series’: Brewers fan builds collection of more than 300 Brewers bobbleheads

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — The Milwaukee Brewers are two wins away from the World Series, and fans across Wisconsin are riding the excitement of a season to remember.

For Jake Paulson, that excitement is more than this season. He has been a Brewers fan since childhood, and over the past two decades, he has turned his love for the team into a collection of more than 300 Brewers bobbleheads.

“As far back as I can remember, when I was a kid, I was into baseball and the Brewers,” Paulson said.

Paulson has made plenty of memories cheering on the Crew with his family. Along the way, he began collecting bobbleheads, starting with a few promotional giveaways in 2005.

What began as a small collection quickly grew into a long-term pursuit.

“I just started to think how many bobbleheads are out there, and there wasn't a great place to look, but I just kept doing research on the internet and see which ones I was missing,” Paulson said.

Twenty years later, Paulson has tracked down more than 300 bobbleheads and worked to get almost all of them signed.

Some signatures have been harder to find than others.

“Any of the Bob Ueckers were the most difficult to get signed,” Paulson said.

One of his favorite pieces features a signature from former Brewers outfielder Nyjer Morgan.

“He signed it Nyjer Morgan, but he also wrote T-Plush,” Paulson said.

Paulson's collection also includes seats from County Stadium, along with bases, baseballs and bats.

And this season has given him even more reason to celebrate.

“They just keep winning, and I can't believe they are so consistent this year. There haven't been long losing streaks. They just continuously win, win, so it's been a really fun season to watch,” Paulson said.

Now, with the Brewers just two wins away from the World Series, Paulson is dreaming of something he has wanted for as long as he can remember.

“My hope and dream my whole life has been to get to the World Series,” Paulson said.

For Paulson, the ultimate goal would be to see the team play on baseball's biggest stage right here in Milwaukee.

“To be able to attend a game, a World Series game in Milwaukee, that's my hope,” Paulson said.

That dream is shared by thousands of Brewers fans. A watch party outside American Family Field is sold out, with thousands expected to gather and cheer on the team Wednesday night as Milwaukee moves closer to a potential World Series appearance.

For a fan who has spent 20 years collecting pieces of Brewers history, the chance to witness a new chapter in person would be a memory unlike any other.
