MeTV to broadcast 'The Wizard of Oz' along with a month of 'Oz' delights
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- This October, you'll be saying, "There's no place like MeTV," as the magic "The Wizard of Oz" will be broadcast on television for the first time in almost 30 years. MeTV will bring home the magic with a month of "Oz" delights coming to the screen.
The celebration begins Sunday, Sept. 27, on an all-new episode of "Collector's Call" where Lisa Whelchel will showcase an amazing collection of "Oz" memorabilia, followed by the MeTV premiere of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: The Making of a Movie Classic," a documentary that's hosted by Angela Lansbury.
Friday, Oct. 2, Whelchel will host the movie premiere of "The Wizard of Oz," which will kick off a month-long "Oz" celebration that includes:
- Five chances to see the iconic movie throughout the month:
- Lisa Whelchel’s presentations of the film featuring original Oz vignettes of exclusive interviews with experts, performers and designers
- Svengoolie and the Sven Squad host The Wizard of Oz from the crypt.
- A presentation of The Wiz starring Diana Ross as Dorothy and Michael Jackson as Scarecrow.
