MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The mother of a fallen Milwaukee police officer is raising money to help new officers pay for college.
Patty Jerving, the mother of fallen MPD Officer Peter Jerving, wanted to find a way to honor both her son and his partner, Jimmy Novak.
"Everything I've done since Peter passed has been what I thought Peter would have wanted me to do," Patty Jerving said. "So, he loved being a police officer and he loved his fellow officers, and he would be happy that we are helping the new officers."
Patty Jerving was at the Milwaukee Police Academy Friday, selling handmade Afghans to help raise money.
Peter's father, Douglas Jerving, also had some original artwork for sale.
All proceeds will be donated toward the scholarship fund.
