Still cooler for the weekend then hot and humid next week

CBS 58

There are no "good" chances for rain over the next few days, and even over the next week. We can't completely rule out a shower Friday near the Illinois border. Then Saturday looks all dry but Sunday does have a slight chance for a few showers or storms.

Temperatures will stay cool, especially lakeside, through the weekend. Highs stay in the 60s all day Friday lakeside but reach the low 70s inland. Even Saturday and Sunday will be about five degrees warmer inland and in the low to upper 70s lakeside. Next week is all about the heat with highs reaching into the low 90s!

Enjoy some low humidity the next few days with dew points staying in the 50s Friday and Saturday. By Sunday you are definitely noticing that humidity with dew points getting into the low to middle 60s. But we will be wishing for that level of humidity by next week when tropical or even oppressive dew points are expected in the 70s.

The consistent 90s for highs and dew points in the 70s will push feels like temps to dangerous levels. Monday could see heat index values from 90-100 and those feels like temps could get as high as 105 Tuesday and Wednesday. A few Heat Advisories will likely be needed, and potential even an Extreme Heat Watch issued as early as Sunday getting close to the big heat or Extreme Heat Warnings.

The heat is expected to stay with us through the July 4th holiday. Highs are currently forecast to stay in the 90s through at least Friday and likely into Independence Day itself. Most of the eastern two thirds of the country is expected to be above average for temps for the holiday weekend with Wisconsin seeing an 80% chance for above average highs and those 90s would certainly be above average.
