Local family says they're stranded in Peru due to nationwide curfew

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local family says they're stranded in Peru after a nationwide curfew there.

They say the curfew happened quickly, with little notice, and question why it was issued in the first place.

Peru has a low risk from coronavirus.

"Looking at what's going on and the number of cases in Brazil and South America in general, never in the world did this cross our mind."

They're stuck in a hotel after they were headed to a wedding.

They think there are about 1,500 other Americans with them, stranded in Peru, and they say they're anxious to get home.

How did it not cross their mind that international travel would not be shut down? The area they traveled to may not have been at the time they left. But it was obvious that the rules and restrictions were changing every day. To ignore that was irresponsible.
