Mayor John Antaramian is asking Governor Evers’ office for $30 million of state funding to help with the rebuild.
The organization, Downtown Kenosha, has helped clean up the area over the last week. It is now working to collect donations and put together a grant program to help the local businesses with loss of product and income as soon as possible.
"The mayor’s ask for $30 million, you know it sounds like a big number, but with the sprawl of our city, I mean that’s just the start. We as a nonprofit organization that focuses on business, we want to help fill immediate needs," Downtown Kenosha Inc. Executive Director Alexandria Binanti said.
The mayor’s office says he’s been speaking with Evers’ office and local leaders about the community’s ongoing needs.
