CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) – A local bakery is collecting donations to help the family of Milwaukee Department of Public Works employee Bryan Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was killed on the job February 8.
Jen’s Sweet Treats owner Jennifer Clark said she wanted to help give back to the family. Clark expects many people in the shop this week to pick up orders and hopes they will donate.
Last week, the same bakery sold out in a matter of hours while hosting a fundraiser for fallen MPD Officer Matthew Rittner.
On Wednesday morning, one of Rodriguez’s family members stopped in Jen’s Sweet Treats to thank the staff.
He was emotional and told CBS 58 the family is so thankful for the community support. Clark said it was the least she could do.
“It’s so heartwarming that they would take time out of their morning to come in and talk to me,” Clark said. “I’m not doing anything special, just a little thing.”
The donation jug will be out at the bakery through Sunday.
