Milwaukee man charged, accused in high-speed crash that killed innocent bystander

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 32-year-old Milwaukee man is facing criminal charges in connection with a high-speed crash that killed an innocent bystander.
The crash happened near Sherman Boulevard and Fond du Lac Avenue Monday, July 14. CBS 58 obtained surveillance video that shows a speeding vehicle plow through a bus shelter. A 55-year-old man waiting at the bus stop, Lorenzo Martin, was killed.
Following the crash, officers witnessed the driver of the fleeing vehicle -- identified as Charles Chipley -- climb out of the driver's door window and attempt to run, however he was apprehended and arrested.
Court records show Chipley has never been issued a driver's license.
Chipley is facing the following charges:
- First-degree reckless homicide
- Vehicle operator flee/elude officer resulting in the death of another
- Hit-and-run resulting in death
- Knowingly operate motor vehicle without a valid license - cause death
Chipley is due in court Friday, July 18.
