MPD: 34-year-old dead after shooting near 19th and Melvina

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A fatal shooting has been confirmed by Milwaukee police early Wednesday, June 17.

The shooting took place near the corner of 19th and Melvina around 6:17 a.m.

A 34-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene; family members have identified the victim as Javonte Jenius. Demario Jenius, who identified himself as Jenius’ nephew, said his uncle was a determined, loving and genuine man who was expecting a child in September.

According to Milwaukee police, another 34-year-old was taken into custody for this shooting, with charges being referred to the Milwaukee County Attorney's Office.


MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police have taped off an area near 19th and Melvina, where officers are searching the scene Wednesday, June 17.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed to CBS 58 that they were called to the scene because of one victim.
