Hunger Task Force distributing farmers market vouchers to qualifying Milwaukee County seniors
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Low-income older adults in Milwaukee County can apply for $25 in vouchers redeemable at local farmers markets this summer through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, according to Hunger Task Force.
Jonathan Hansen, chief strategy officer at Hunger Task Force, joined us Wednesday, June 17 to walk through the program.
The vouchers can also be used at roadside stands and community-supported agriculture programs. Every eligible senior may apply, and households are no longer limited to one set. Distribution is on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Upcoming distribution sites include Clinton Rose Senior Center on Thursday, June 18 and Abundant Faith Church of Integrity on Wednesday, June 24, both from 9 to 11 a.m.
To qualify, recipients must be 60 or older, 55 or older for Indigenous Elders, live in Milwaukee County and have a monthly income below $2,461 for one-person households or $3,337 for two, with $876 added for each additional household member.
