WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Governor Tony Evers was in Milwaukee Wednesday, May 11 to announce a $5 million investment to support economic growth in Milwaukee's Near West Side.
The investment will help establish Concordia 27, a project to convert a vacant building into a community center.
Gov. Evers heralded the project as a great way to help build the community.
"Whether it's financial security, affordable child care, health care and housing or access to reliable transportation, so many factors play a critical role in the success of our kids, our families and our state, and that's why a space like Concordia 27 is such an important addition and asset to the local community," Evers said.
The governor said that the community center will help the Near West Side rebuild after the pandemic, containing housing units and spots for retail stores.
