Garza heads to DL with oblique strain

MILWAUKEE - After several months of good luck with injuries, the Brewers starting rotation has finally been hit. Matt Garza's strained oblique has landed him on the 15-day disabled list.

Garza strained his oblique muscle in the sixth inning of the Brewers loss to the Cardinals Sunday. Ron Roenicke pinch hit for Garza in the seventh.

Garza's trip to the disabled list marks the first time a Brewers starter has missed a full turn in the rotation due to injury in the 2014 season. As of Tuesday afternoon, Marco Estrada and Mike Fiers were being mentioned as possible rotation replacements for Garza, who gave up just one hit in his six innings Sunday and had been the hottest of the Brewers starters in recent outings.

The Brewers host the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers this week at Miller Park.
