VISIT Milwaukee preview: March 29-31
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – More than 500 people from across the state are in Milwaukee Tuesday and Wednesday for a summit on opioids and meth.
The event is helping experts find ways to better target drug traffickers and prevent drug abuse. The summit is being held ahead of National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday. More than 300 law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin are expected to participate.
According to the Department of Justice, Wisconsin has the third largest drug disposal collection in the country behind California and Texas.
“Treat them like you would a loaded gun because narcotic medications are killing far more people than guns in Wisconsin,” Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel said.
On Tuesday, Milwaukee Police collected prescription drugs near Kilbourn and 3rd. More information on Drug Take Back Day can be found on the Dose of Reality website.
