MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Lucille Berrien, a longtime Milwaukee community leader, has passed away at the age of 98.
Those close to Berrien said the political organizer and beloved family matriarch died on Friday, May 22, surrounded by family.
Berrien is known as the first Black woman to run for Milwaukee mayor.

In a statement, Von Communications said:
"Her family, friends, and the many communities she served mourn her loss."
There is a mural of Berrien at a park named after her at 16th and Nash.
Funeral and memorial arrangements are being handled by Paradise Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Visitation, memorial service, and burial information is still to be announced.
