MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- City leaders are closing out Peace Week with a city-wide march and a gathering on the south side.

Mayor Cavalier Johnson and several other city leaders were there at Mitchell Park Saturday, May 23.

Johnson says Peace Week was a success, pointing to events that sought to bring people together and discuss solutions to gun violence.

While at Mitchell Park, the mayor said bringing peace to the city will require everyone to get involved in one way or another.

"I can't do it alone, the police chief can't do it alone, the Department of Community Wellness and Safety can't do it alone, the fire department can't do it alone," said Mayor Johnson. "All of us need to do this in unison. We need to do this together and that's what this represents all of us marching one beat marching to one accord to show this community that everybody's got a role to play."

Saturday's event included different games and activities at the park.

The city's summer peace plan will include future gatherings, aimed at giving teens and families something to do together.
