3 hurt, 2 in critical condition following fiery highway crash in Town of Wheatland
Twin Lakes Fire and Rescue TOWN OF WHEATLAND, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Twin Lakes Fire and Rescue said three people were taken to the hospital after a head-on fiery crash on Saturday, May 2, two in critical condition.
Officials say the crash happened in the 5700 block of State Highway 83, just after 10:00 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews found two people lying in the roadway and another victim trapped and pinned within a vehicle, with a second vehicle engulfed with flames.
Fire crews were able to extricate and free the woman trapped in the vehicle. Due to the extensive damage of the crash, the fire department said it took 57 minutes to get the woman out.
Two of the patients were taken to the hospital via flight for life due to the severity of the incident. They considered to be in critical condition.
The third patient was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. That patient is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident remains under investigation.
