WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Twelve graduates and a room full of people cheering them on.
Wednesday night, May 27, Journey21 celebrated its Life Academy graduates.
The Waukesha-area non-profit helps people with disabilities build skills, make connections and land internships.
Earlier this month, our own Duaa Israr introduced us to Mason Masino, who landed his dream internship at the Waukesha County Airport.
Wednesday, Mason was one of the 12 graduates walking across the stage.
"Tonight is a celebration of all the hard work of our young adults with intellectual disabilities," said Heidi Hamilton, Enrichment Center director. "We have a two-year Life Academy which is a two-year college and tonight celebrates all their hard work over the past two years."
Journey21 says this is about the community stepping up and working with these capable young adults and putting them in a great position to get meaningful employment.
