Wisconsin man cited for 36th offense of driving without a license

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) – Wednesday evening a Dane County Sheriff’s deputy looking for drivers without seat belts pulled over a car on Washington Avenue near Lien Road in Madison.

After checking DOT records, the deputy found the vehicle to have the wrong license plate, and the driver, 31-year-old Baraboo man Jacob Schonenberger, was driving with a license that had been expired since 2014.

Before the traffic stop Schonenberger had 35 convictions of operating without a license within the past five years. The Deputy cited him for his 36th. The man was also ticketed for not wearing a seat belt and not having insurance. He was warned for speeding and a title violation.

The Deputy waited until the man's ride arrived.
