Wisconsin DNR poetry contest aims to inspire kids to celebrate clean air

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is currently accepting entries for its 12th annual "Air, Air, Everywhere" poetry contest. The DNR announced the contest officially being open in a Tuesday, March 14 press release.

The contest is open to all students in third to fifth grades and aims to raise awareness about the importance of clean air in honor of Clean Air Month in May.

Participants are invited to submit an original poem or riddle that describes air or the significance of clean air. Entries must be 200 words or less and must be the original work of the student.

The author's name, parent and teacher's name, email and phone number should be included in each entry. The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 5.

The three winning poets will have their work featured on the DNR website and social media channels.

To assist students in developing their entries, the DNR has created a teacher's guide with ten activities that encourage students to think about Wisconsin's air quality.

Entries should be emailed to [email protected]. More information, including examples of past entries can be found by clicking here.
