CBS 58

SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- In August of 2025, historic flooding hit southeast Wisconsin, and it's broken a statewide record.

Using a rain gauge that sits on the roof of James Madison High School in Milwaukee, the State Climate Extremes Committee was able to verify a new statewide record for precipitation over a 24-hour period.

From Aug. 9-10, the gauge measured 14.5 inches of rain -- breaking the previous record of 11.72 inches near Mellen, Wisconsin back in 1946.
