Kaul calls birthright citizenship ruling a victory, as Trump calls on Congress to act

CBS 58 WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- A Supreme Court ruling Tuesday upheld birthright citizenship protections and struck down President Trump's executive order.
The Supreme Court had a divided decision of 6-3.
Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul called this victory for the rule of law.
"If this executive order would have gone into effect, we would have had to have a process in place for determining, on an individual basis, whether kids were U.S. citizens or not," Kaul said.
President Trump posted on Truth Social Tuesday, writing in part, "Congress should start TODAY to work on ending expensive and unfair to our Country, Birthright Citizenship."
