Warm and windy Friday then a round of accumulating snow Saturday
Friday is going to be a warm day. High temperatures will warm quickly into the 50s for the afternoon hours. Even though it's nice and warm and about 20 degrees above average, it's nowhere close to records. The record high for Friday is 74 degrees set back just two years ago in 2024. That 74 is not only a record for the date, but also a record high for the entire month of February.
In addition to the warmth on Friday, it's also going to be windy with gusts to 30 mph out of the southwest during the day Friday. That wind will shift to the NW Friday night and stay windy. A lighter wind will return for Saturday and Sunday out of the north or northeast from 5-15 mph.
The cold front that drops in Friday night will linger over southeast Wisconsin Saturday. And with some help from low pressure over the Colorado Rockies we will see a narrow area of accumulating snow move into southern Wisconsin. Snow looks to begin during the mid-morning hours Saturday and last for about 12 hours in many locations through the late evening hours.
Since the swath of snow looks to be so narrow, any shifts to the north or south with the storm track, will have a big impact on snow totals. Right now most of Wisconsin looks to be in an area of 1-3" of snow with less than an inch closer to the IL border as well as to our north.
