Arrest made after 64-year-old bicyclist killed in Milwaukee hit-and-run

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A suspect has been arrested following a deadly hit-and-run in Milwaukee.

Family identified the victim Monday as 64-year-old Walter Williams. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office noted on Tuesday, Aug. 4 that Williams was riding an electric bike when he was hit. He was taken to a hospital but did not survive his injuries.

Milwaukee police say a 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection and the vehicle involved was recovered.

Charges have been referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.


MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A 64-year-old bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday evening in Milwaukee.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the crash happened shortly before 5:45 p.m. near West Vliet Street and North 17th Street.

Police said a vehicle was traveling north on North 17th Street when it struck the bicyclist, who was crossing west on West Vliet Street. The driver then fled the scene.

The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries.

Police are searching for the unknown driver.
