USS Milwaukee seizes 1,664 kilograms of cocaine from narcotics trade

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than 1,500 kilograms of cocaine was seized from the narcotics trade with help from the USS Milwaukee. 

The freedom-variant littoral combat ship will return to Mayport, Florida following its eight-month deployment to the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations. 

According to the news release from the United States Navy, the ship -- led by Cmdr. Jason Knox, commanding officer of Milwaukee -- and its U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET), apprehended or disrupted an estimated 1,664 kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated street value of $116.5 million and removed eight suspected drug traffickers from the narcotics trade.
