Chelan County police confirm the death of Travis Decker, the man who killed his 3 daughters in June

CHELAN COUNTY, WA (CBS 58) -- In a news conference today, Sept. 24, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison confirmed that the remains found last week are Travis Decker's.
"About four months ago, we were sitting here, breaking the news about this tragic situation," said Morrison. "Today, I stand before you again with news that we have received our DNA results back...We are glad to say that those remains do come back as a positive match for Travis Decker."
Decker was found in an area in Grindstone Mountain - not far from where the bodies of 9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn and 5-year-old Olivia were found at a popular campsite.
At this time the cause of his death and how long he has been deceased is unknown. According to the sheriff, partial remains of Decker were found.
Since the beginning of this tragedy, there has been an outpour of support for the girls' mother, Whitney. At last check, the GoFundMe to help with funeral costs and other expenses has raised more than $1.2 million.
CHELAN COUNTY, WA (CBS 58) -- The United States Marshals Service says that Travis Decker, the Pewaukee man accused of killing his three daughters back in June, is dead.
The murders took place in a remote region of Washington State and investigators say Decker went on the run after he allegedly killed the girls.
Search efforts have continued for months and just last week human remains, in addition to clothing they believed belonged to Decker, was found near the site of the murders.
It is unclear at this time if the U.S. Marshals Service is using these findings as conclusive proof of his death, the DNA results are still pending for the remains, but a federal prosecutor has asked a judge to drop the arrest warrant as Decker is now presumed dead.
The Chelan County Sheriff's Office, in a press release say that at this time they don't have a positive identification or confirmation that the remains are Decker's, but the results of the tests are expected within the next few days.
Once the results are confirmed a press conference will be held to address the findings and address any questions.
