If you want to experience travel in the early 1900s, there's one local stop you have to make. It's the East Troy Electric Railroad. This attraction is considered to be Wisconsin's last reminders of the once broad network of electric interurban railways. It makes three stops. One at the depot in East Troy and at the Elegant Farmer and Indianhead Park, both in Mukwonago. In all, you can take a 14-mile trip through the beautiful countryside. I was lucky enough to be a passenger.
The dinner trains are a big draw as well as the pizza trains for the family. You can only take rides during the weekend. But starting in June and going through August, there's a Friday option as well. There are also themed trains as well, including for Oktoberfest and the holidays. Click on the attached link if you'd like to make a reservation for you or your family.
