WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin State Campgrounds are opening on Wednesday, June 10.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says camping usually would pick up in May and through Memorial Day weekend, but due to COVID-19, the sites were closed.
Campers are asked to continue practicing social distancing, especially around congregation areas like bathrooms and showers.
Reservations must be made online or over the phone because park offices remain closed.
"Stay safe, be prepared," DNR Business Operations Section Chief Chris Pedretti said. "Try to be as self-sufficient as possible, again, avoiding those congregation areas and maintaining that social distance and you know, we just want everybody to enjoy the outdoors, enjoy their camping experience, it’s really the best way to get out and be immersed in the parks and forest."
Some attractions like observation towers and look-out points are still closed. More information and reservations can be made on the DNR website.
