Opening weekend is here for Slinger Speedway
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Nearly three weeks after Officer Rittner was killed in the line of duty, the community continues to rally around his family.
There were a number of fundraisers over the weekend and on Monday, Sobelman's is also raising money for the fallen officer's family.
Sobelman's is donating $1 for each burger, sandwich, and entree purchased throughout the day to the family of Matthew Rittner.
MillerCoors will also donate $1 for each Miller product sold today. It is one of several fundraisers that has already been held for Rittner's family. Sobelman's held similar fundraisers for the other two fallen Milwaukee Police Officers, Charles Irvine Jr. and Michael Michalski. A Sobelman's manager says it's their way of giving back to the community.
"Personally, born and raised in Milwaukee all my life. My stepmother and father have been here the majority of their life. We've seen the changes in Milwaukee. We are happy to be a part of it and we just want to show that we care. The community really supports us and in return we want to support them," said Dave Sobelman, manager at Sobelman's Pub and Grill.
Food and drinks are served until 10:00 p.m. Monday. The fundraiser is at the St. Paul Avenue and Wells Street locations.
