MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's a race against time for some desperately needed food.
El Rey Supermarkets partnered with North Shore Bank to provide food donations for the Milwaukee Christian Center Food Pantry.
It's part of the ninth annual Race for the Hungry.
On Thursday, shoppers raced head-to-head to help feed those in need.
Two racers dashed through the store collecting items like peanut butter, spaghetti, cans of tuna, and whatever else they could get their hands on and into their carts.
Organizers say events like that one help to remind everyone that the need for food doesn't go away once the holidays are over.
"So, we really deeply appreciate folks like North Shore Bank and the grocery store for helping us to remind people that we collectively can make a big impact in Milwaukee to make sure people have what they need," said Angie Mason with the Milwaukee Christian Center.
All the food collected goes directly to the Milwaukee Christian Center Food Pantry.
