MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Schlitz Audubon Center is getting into the Halloween spirit.
On Sunday, Oct. 20, they welcomed guests in costume to learn about some of nature's spooky and misunderstood animals, such as snakes and tarantulas.
Organizers say it's fun for the kids and also leaves them with a valuable lesson.
"Kids need this connection to understand why we want to protect our planet. Why we appreciate all our misunderstood animals. Having these educational programs is just one step in that journey," said Cassie Rincon, family program's manager.
Along with learning some spooky species, there were costumed taxidermy animals, trails were open, and kids who visited each learning center got a Halloween treat.
