Sargento teaming up with Packers for Touchdowns for Hunger program

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- For the 16th consecutive season, the Green Bay Packers and Sargento Foods are teaming up to raise money for families in need. As part of the Touchdowns for Hunger program, every Packers TD this season will score against hunger in the home state of the Green Bay Packers.

“What we once called ‘Touchdowns for Charity’ has a new name and a new logo, to call out exactly what Sargento and the Packers are up against hunger,” said Sargento CEO Louie Gentine, “For decades, Sargento has been a champion for feeding, sheltering and educating families in our community, just as the Packers have been champions on the field. We’re proud to continue our 16-year partnership,” said Gentine.

For every touchdown the Packers score during the regular season, Sargento donates a total of $1,500 shared by two Wisconsin food charities: Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee and Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay. Since beginning in 2002, Touchdowns for Hunger has raised more than $1.3 million in total program donations and has provided more than one million meals to help those in need.

New this season, Packers fans can unlock an additional donation from Sargento simply by sharing their cheesiest touchdown dance on social media. Each fan touchdown dance shared on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook using #TDforHunger, unlocks a $5 donation from Sargento to Wisconsin food charities, up to $25,000!

“This is an exciting way for the fans to get in on the action, show off their moves, and help the Packers and Sargento tackle hunger, one touchdown dance at time!” said Gentine. “I’m looking forward to seeing all the creative celebrations on social media and being able to give even more to the Hunger Task Force and Paul’s Pantry.”
