FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It's a morning ritual many of us don't even think about. Pouring maple syrup on our pancakes. This weekend, you and your family get to explore how's this sugary substance is actually made. It all starts with the tap of a maple tree to collect all the sap. Then it's boiled for hours to come up with the perfect topping. Right now is the prime time for all this to be happening courtesy of Mother Nature.
"Maple Sugar Days" runs this Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 at Wehr Nature Center in Franklin. And in addition to doing some syrup sampling, you can also go on guided hiking tours to see all the maples on site being used to produce the syrup.
