OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A first-time event for Port Washington took place Tuesday evening -- Ozaukee County's National Night Out.
Every law enforcement agency in the county set up a stand and interacted with people along the main drag of Franklin Street.
Traditionally, Saukville hosted the county's National Night Out each year. Organizers then decided to rotate the event among different hometowns.
With Port Washington in charge this year, police hope they can help change attitudes while encouraging families to have a night out in their town.
"We do have a lot of instances where people don't have the most positive interaction with police, and we want to make sure they know they can come to us and do it in a fun way and have a good time," said Annie Bialzik, Port Washington Police Department support specialist.
Next year, the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office will be in charge of putting on the annual event.
