One in Custody After Bomb Threat in Waterford

On Monday, October 19 at approximately 3:02 PM Racine County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Trailside Elementary school in the Village of Waterford for a possible bomb threat. Initial reports indicated that staff discovered a threatening message located in one of the restrooms on campus.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that classes were concluding for the day and immediately began a preliminary investigation into the matter. Through the course of that investigation it was quickly determined that the threat to the school was not credible. Additionally, there was no information to indicate any credible threats to any other facilities within Racine County.

Sheriff's investigators quickly identified a juvenile party that claimed responsibility for communicating the threat. The juvenile was taken into custody and investigators are working with human services and the Racine County district attorneys office.

The Sheriff's Office would like to remind parents to have a discussion with their children regarding the seriousness and potential consequences associated with these types of incidents.

The investigation into the threat is ongoing.
