MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee police officers, firefighters, and Sheriff’s deputies celebrated “Read Across America Day” with MPS students at Barack Obama School of Career and Technical Education.
March is reading month and first responders hope events like Friday’s will encourage kids to read.
“Hopefully this is the springboard for the rest of their life so they can learn life’s lessons on how reading and writing impacts their life. We wouldn’t be where we are in life if we weren’t at this age reading,” said Capt. Tim Heier with the Milwaukee Police Department.
Read Across America Day is also Dr. Seuss’ birthday. After reading Dr. Seuss books, everyone enjoyed a breakfast of green eggs and ham.
