MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- This summer, a federally funded program is helping homeowners save big dollars on their energy bills.
The federal grant worth more than $149 million is aimed at restoring older homes throughout the Badger State.
The program looks to fix old insulation and heating systems that could cause your energy bill to rise.
Leaders who back the Inflation Reduction Act say it's a game changer for the energy landscape of Wisconsin.
People who've taken advantage of the program say they've seen a difference where it counts the most.
"You save money in the beginning to have the work done, you save money on future energy bills you protect your property value, and you protect the environment by reducing the greenhouse gasses from escaping," said homeowner Ann K.
So far, more than 1,500 homeowners have taken advantage of the program.
