Court documents show 32-year-old Joshua Jordan is charged with first degree intentional homicide, first degree recklessly endangering safety, and operating a motor vehicle to flee or in an attempt to elude an officer.
Prosecutors say Jordan shot Greg McElwee, his upstairs neighbor, while confronting him with a noise complaint in their apartment building near 94th and Carmen the morning of May 27.
The criminal complaint alleges Jordan began firing shots toward the victim during the confrontation, with a witness telling investigators they saw McElwee run to his apartment unit and shut the door.
Prosecutors say McElwee's teenage son was inside their apartment unit at the time, and told police Jordan chased after his dad, kicking their door open. After slamming the door shut and locking it, he said he saw his dad had been shot.
Witnesses reported seeing a man-later identified as Jordan- speeding away from the apartment building before police arrived at the scene.
The complaint says Jordan had been complaining to the landlord about noise coming from McElwee's apartment over the past month, and at one point, told the landlord that if he wouldn't deal with the issue, Jordan would "take care of it himself."
Prior to his arrest, police say Jordan led officers on a high-speed chase for about four miles before crashing into construction barrels on Capitol Drive.
In court Monday, Jordan's bond was set at $350,000. A preliminary hearing is set for June 11.
