'It was disgusting': Racine youth football player tripped by adult from opposing team

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine youth football community is calling for accountability after cell phone video on social media shows a parent from an opposing team tripped a player during a game.

The football game was a 10-U game between the Racine Eagles and the Milwaukee Colts.

The video shows a Racine player running around the left end when a Milwaukee parent steps out onto the field and tripped him to the ground.

Racine is in black jerseys; Milwaukee is in white. The player runs to the left when the Milwaukee parent steps out. He trips the Racine player so violently that they both fall to the ground.

Racine coach Channing Schultz was on vacation when it happened, but said parents blew up his phone after the incident and told him the Milwaukee parent walked away and left the game.

Schultz said the player is a tough kid and was ok after being tripped.

Schultz told us, “I was filled with anger, it was disgusting. It was the most cowardly act I’ve ever seen. For him to just do it with so much intent and he was committed. No words can fix that at all.”

We reached out to a phone number listed for the Milwaukee Colts team.

The person who answered said the adult that tripped the player is not a coach, and that person "was removed from the game and the remainder of the season."

They added, "That’s the league responsibility to keep spectators separated from players."

They also said the Milwaukee parent is in custody.

We've reached out to the Racine County District Attorney's office and the Mount Pleasant Police Department—the jurisdiction where the game was held—for more information.

Racine coach Schultz says his team wants answers because they're scheduled to play the Colts again in two weeks.

He said he's never forfeited a game before but wants to make sure his players will be safe.
