Milwaukee's Uptown neighborhood sees impactful improvements during Adopt-A-Neighborhood initiative
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's 2026 Adopt-A-Neighborhood initiative concluded Tuesday, Sept. 29.
This was the third year of the 12-week program
Each year, a different neighborhood has been chosen as a focal point.
This year's neighborhood was Uptown.
Since July, city departments have focused resources and services throughout Uptown including working to improve public safety, strengthening housing stability, and more.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson shared some of the ways residents were impacted by the initiative.
"So, when you put it all together, when you do that, you begin to see what Adopt-A-Neighborhood is really about. It's about taking all the things that city government does and then asking the question, 'What does it look like when you team up and you get things done?' You get streets that are improved, you get businesses that get additional support, you get children receiving books," said Mayor Johnson.
