MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is giving back this holiday season.
Officer Eric Ratzmann came up with the idea to start a clothing drive for the homeless.
On Wednesday, he and other officers from District 6 were collecting those donations.
He says the response has been impressive.
People started dropping off donations last weekend.
"I just want to thank the people of Milwaukee who are coming out to help out and it shows that people in Milwaukee really care about each other. We thought it was a great opportunity to help someone out that needed us and it helped clean out my closet as well," said Ofc. Eric Ratzmann.
All of the clothing donated on Wednesday will be distributed to homeless shelters across Milwaukee.
