MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- 32-year-old Milwaukee man Vincenzo Damato Jr. has been been charged after a report of an armed robbery on November 20. Milwaukee Police responded to the Speedway Gas Station at 9200 West Bluemound Road. Around 3:20 a.m. a man walked in wearing gloves and all black and nudged a clerk with a gun demanding cigarettes and everything in the register.

Police were in the area and pulled into the parking lot when the clerk ran out and told them what just happened. As police were leaving the scene they heard noise behind a dumpster and identified the man suspected in the gas station robbery.

Officers struggled with the suspect and grabbed his hair which came off since he was wearing a wig. Police believed he was trying to reach for his gun during the struggle so an officer hit him in the head until the man gave up.

Police recovered all of the stolen cash and cigarettes from behind the dumpster.

Earlier in November on the 11th, a police officer was dispatched to Walker's Point for a man who picked a lock and stole two packages from the building.

Vincenzo was confronted about the Speedway robbery and package theft and admitted to committing both crimes.
