MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One month into the season and the Admirals are in a familiar place.

Near the top of the standings, Milwaukee is off to a hot start with points in 10 of their first 12 games.

"Things are going well," said forward Jake Lucchini. "You know, obviously a lot of new faces, lot of younger guys in our lineup, but they've dealt with it well and it's nice to kind of get off to a good start."

As usual, the Ads spread the wealth on offense. Fifteen different players have scored, with all four lines contributing.

"It's harder for the visiting team to pinpoint, obviously, who they are going to guard," said head coach Karl Taylor. "For us, we believe in playing four lines as much as possible. When you have depth scoring, it's exciting for the group. They all feel they contribute and when you feel you can make an impact, once again, you feel empowered."

But defense is where they really shine, allowing barely more than two goals per game.

Saturday, they called up goalie Ethan Haider from the ECHL. It looked like he was in trouble after an ugly goal less than two minutes in. That was the only goal he allowed.

"But I was like, oh boy, this poor kid," Taylor said. "I hope he can recover from this. That's a really difficult thing. So all the hours of work, all the games he played in the east coast league last year, allowed him to be ready for that bad goal moment and settle in and give them nothing after that."

"It's one of those things where like, if I give up a bad goal, trying to show the team I'm going to be alright. It's not going to snowball. I can pick myself up. Very grateful for the opportunity and glad to get a win," Haider said.

The Ads will hit the road and get some sun this weekend with two games in Nevada.
