Jury trial set for MU student accused in crash that killed 2 lacrosse players

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new trial date is set for the former Marquette University student accused of causing a crash that killed two lacrosse players.

In court Friday, Oct. 16, the mother of one of the victims questioned whether her concerns about the schedule were being heard.

"Does my opinion, as the parent of one of the dead kids, matter at all? I said how many times to the DA that I'm not going to be here that week, but is anyone reading or listening?"

A judge said the court would find a different week after the mother explained she could not attend the week being considered.

Peter McColgan has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Prosecutors say he was driving 53 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone before the September 2025 crash that killed 19-year-old Scott Michaud and 20-year-old Noah Snyder.

A jury acquitted the other driver, Amandria Brunner, in June.

McColgan's jury trial is now scheduled for April 12.
