Showery and windy Friday then the first frost and freeze of the season arrives Saturday morning
Thursday was a wet and dreary day across southeast Wisconsin. Many areas saw a long stretch of steady rain during the late morning through the afternoon. The showers continued through Thursday evening into early Friday morning. Rain totals through Friday morning ranged from a half inch in southern counties to 1.50" in our northern counties.
We are not quite done with the rain yet. Some light scattered showers look likely for most of Friday. The rain won't be as steady or heavy as what it was Thursday but light showers could linger through dinnertime. An additional tenth of an inch of rain is possible.
Friday is going to be a very windy day as well. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph bringing in the cooler air out of the northwest. The wind still stays breezy Friday night but becomes lighter during the day Saturday as it shifts back to the SW. The SW wind will continue on Sunday but strengthens back to 30 mph.
After the showers end Friday evening the clouds will quickly clear out and lead us into a very chilly start to Saturday. A frost advisory has been issued for Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties and a freeze warning has been issued for the rest of southeast Wisconsin. Both the frost advisory and freeze warning are in effect Saturday from 1-9 AM.
Temperatures will likely drop into the 30s for most of southeast Wisconsin with some low 30s possible for western counties, mid 30s for inland areas and upper 30s right near the lake.
