DELAFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) — Businesses around Delafield closed on Friday, November 6 while the search for a suspect who shot two police officers was underway.
Several stores left notes on their windows saying they were temporarily closed.
“I’ve had customers knock on the door,” Business owner Rick Lieblang said. “We’ve never had anything like this before.”
Lieblang and his wife, Judy, decided not to open their shop, Lieblang Pro-Clean and Leather, while the search was ongoing.
“It’s been a weird day. With the virus, everybody’s been hurting anyway, this is not something else that we need it on top of it,” he said.
The Pewaukee School District canceled classes because of the manhunt. The Kettle Moraine District was already closed for a professional development day.
Authorities captured the suspect, Nathanael Benton, shortly after 11 a.m.
