(CBS 58) – As cars become more connected to computers and technology there is concern about hacking, according to a USA Today article.

Experts say if you have a newer car it most likely has technology that hackers can access. That includes personal information. Additionally, hackers could steal your car or even worse, take control while you’re driving.

According to USA Today, experts say these types of hacks aren’t possible, but becoming more likely.

In 2015, security researchers were able to hack into a 2014 Jeep and control the steering wheel, disable the brakes and shut down the engine.

Unfortunately, there’s not much drivers can do. Automakers have become more conscious of the looming threats of security.

If you have an app that you use to unlock and start your car, it is important to make sure you have a strong password.
