MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A vacant lot is getting new life in MIlwaukee's Bronzeville neighborhood.
Griot Apartments just opened and America's Black Holocaust Museum will be on the development's first floor. The building takes up a full block at 4th and North.
The complex redeveloped a previously vacant city lot into dozens of residential units and 8,000 square feet of commercial space. The grand opening event also marked the re-emergence of America's Black Holocaust Museum. The museum closed in 2008 due to financial reasons and continued with a virtual presence online.
Construction of a new museum is underway, built on the footprint of the original one. It is expected to open in the fall.
