Medical College of Wisconsin holds 12-hour diaper drive
GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A middle school teacher in Greendale has a shot at a remarkable honor.
Erin McCarthy has been named Wisconsin's nominee for National Teacher of the Year.
McCarthy teaches social studies at Greendale Middle School. She's already been named Wisconsin Middle School Teacher of the Year.
"I believe that every student deserves to see themselves represented in America's story," said McCarthy. "So the story that we teach in our social studies classroom is that everybody is a part of history, and everyone can play a role, and everybody's voice is important. And I focused on that, and I guess that message resonated."
McCarthy says even if she's not chosen as National Teacher of the Year, she has a lot to look forward to, including meetings with other states' nominees and a trip to Washington next spring.
